Use groceries to deliver cakes
Do you currently deliver to grocery stores or cafes in areas where you don't have your own bakery outlets? Then you have a fantastic opportunity to expand your reach and increase your sales.
Built into the Cake it easy online store is a tool that allows you to easily add grocery stores as a delivery point for your cakes. You just need to make an agreement with the grocer. And it's easier than you might think.
Several bakeries are already doing this with great success. One bakery increased sales by 75% after they started delivering to grocery stores. At another bakery, grocery pickup accounts for a whopping 50% of their total online sales.
Although some grocery chains have their own cake ordering solutions, it turns out that local grocers are very positive about collaborating with the local baker. They understand that most customers prefer to go to the local baker when ordering cakes for big occasions.
There are several good reasons for the merchant to do this:
They get customers into the store. When you're celebrating something with a cake, you often need other things for the celebration as well. Then they often buy it at the same time they pick up the cake. Same principle as "mail in store".
They gain recognition by collaborating with local suppliers. Supporting local businesses is something that is becoming increasingly relevant, and something that resonates well with customers.
And of course... they make money from it and get to participate in revenue that they wouldn't necessarily have gotten on their own.
Our system allows you to solve it in slightly different ways, depending on your and the merchant's needs. Here's how other bakeries solve it today:
Option 1 - Give the store a commission per delivery
In your control panel, you have the option to set a percentage that the store will receive in commission for delivering the cake for you. The system will then automatically calculate how much each store has outstanding in commission at any given time.
Some bakeries pay the commission to the stores once a quarter, but you can decide how often you want to do this yourself. When you want to pay the commission, you just press a button to generate a payment slip that shows an overview of all the orders that have been delivered and how much is to be paid out. The slip can be used as a voucher for the accounts, both for you and the store. It doesn't get any simpler.
It can work like this:
The customer orders in the online store and pays for the cake.
The customer shows the SMS in the store and collects the cake.
You periodically access your control panel and generate payment vouchers.
You send the payment slip to the store and pay the commission.
Option 2 - Let the customer pay at the grocery store
Some grocery stores prefer that the customer pay for the cake upon pickup.
That's no problem either. We can then set it up so that if the customer chooses a grocery store as their pick-up location, they don't have to pay online. The customer is notified when they order that they will pay upon pick-up.
It works like this:
The customer orders from the online store, but does not pay.
The customer shows the SMS in the store, pays and collects the cake.
You send an invoice to the store as usual.
